If the power goes out, you don’t have to be left in the dark. Hurricane season, severe thunderstorms, and the occasional extended outage are all part of life on the Florida panhandle — a properly sized generator keeps your home comfortable, your fridge running, your well pump pumping, and your family safe.
Action Air is an authorized Generac installer. We design, install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial generator systems.
Standby vs. portable — which do you need?
Whole-home standby generators are permanently installed outside the house, connected to your main electrical panel through an automatic transfer switch. Fueled by natural gas or propane, they detect an outage within seconds and restore power automatically — no running outside in a storm, no extension cords through a window. When grid power returns, the generator shuts itself down.
Think of it as a heavy-duty car engine — complete with radiator, fuel supply, and alternator — sealed in a weather-proof enclosure and wired directly into your home. Hospitals and retail businesses install them for exactly this reason. Homeowners want the same reliability.
Portable generators run on gasoline (and sometimes propane), typically deliver 500 W to 17.5 kW, and need to be manually wheeled out, started, and connected via extension cords during an outage. Cheaper upfront but more work when you need them, and they can’t safely power a whole home.
Most of our Florida-panhandle customers end up with a standby unit — the convenience alone pays off the first time a hurricane rolls through.
What we do
- Site survey & load calculation — right-size the generator to what you actually need (essentials-only vs. whole-home)
- Generac sales — authorized dealer for residential and commercial Guardian series
- Installation — generator pad, fuel-line hookup, electrical panel and transfer switch tie-in, permits, and inspections
- Scheduled maintenance — oil changes, filter replacements, load testing, and annual exercise verification
- Repair — diagnostics and service when something goes wrong
- Existing generators — we service units we didn’t install, too
Licensed for the full job
Action Air is licensed in Florida for HVAC (RA13067330), Electrical (ER13013552), and Plumbing (RF11067503) — which matters for generators because a proper install touches electrical panels and, for natural-gas units, plumbing/gas piping. One contractor, one permit set, one point of accountability.
